Web Terms

Domain name - This is the name you type in to go to a website. For example, www.microsoft.com. First you decide what you want your domain name to be. We then look to make sure it is available. If so we can purchase the name for one or two years. Beware there are a lot of places that say free domain names or domain names for $9.00, but they usually come with a contract for hosting or they add on charges for other services.

Hosting - Once you have your domain name you need a place to park it. Think of buying a mobile home and needing a place to park it.

Secure Server - This is a place on the internet that is secure for shopping. It is a safe place to use credit cards.

Shopping Cart - This is just like a shopping cart in the grocery store. It stores the items people are purchasing until they check out.

Key Words - These are words that are used by the search engines to find you and rank your website.

Submission services - Companies that will submit your website to search engines.
